- Chart of Accounts
Your system comes with a standard chart of accounts in five root groups:
| Group | Examples |
|---|---|
| Assets | Banks, cash, receivables, stock, fixed assets |
| Liabilities | Payables, VAT payable, loans |
| Equity | Capital, retained earnings |
| Income | Sales, service revenue |
| Expenses | Cost of goods sold, salaries, rent, utilities |
Group and ledger accounts
- Group account — holds accounts under it; you don't post to it directly.
- Ledger account — the one transactions are posted to.
Adding an account
- Open the Chart of Accounts.
- Click the group the account belongs under, e.g. Bank Accounts.
- Click Add Child.
- Enter the account name and whether it is a group.
- Choose an account type when the account has a special role:
| Account type | Use for |
|---|---|
| Bank | Every bank account |
| Cash | Cash boxes |
| Receivable | Customer receivables |
| Payable | Supplier payables |
| Tax | Tax accounts |
| Stock | Inventory |
| Fixed Asset | Fixed assets |
| Depreciation | Depreciation expense |
- Save.
One account per bank
Create a separate account for each bank account (e.g. "Al Rajhi – Current") to make statement upload and matching easy.
Financial statement line
Each account is automatically mapped to a line of the Qawaem financial statements. To move an account to another line, open it and change the Financial statement line field.
Editing and deleting accounts
- You can rename any account at any time.
- Accounts with transactions can't be deleted. Disable them instead.
- A ledger account with transactions can't be converted to a group.
