  3. Cost Centers

A cost center lets you see revenue and expenses for each part of your company separately, such as:

  • Each branch: Riyadh, Jeddah.
  • Each department: sales, administration.
  • Each line of business: retail, wholesale.

Setup

  1. Open Cost Centers (shown as a tree).
  2. Under your company's main cost center, add one per branch or department.
  3. To set a default for a user or branch, set it in the user's defaults or in the POS profile.

Using them

Pick the cost center on the invoice, voucher or journal line. Then:

  • Profit and Loss filtered by cost center gives each branch's profit.
  • Profitability Analysis compares all cost centers in one table.

Budgets

  3. Budgets
  1. Create a budget for a cost center and fiscal year.
  2. Add accounts (usually expense accounts) and the planned amount for each.
  3. Choose what happens when exceeded: Ignore, Warn or Stop.
  4. To spread the budget unevenly across months, use a Monthly Distribution.

Compare actual vs. budget in the Budget Variance Report.

  3. Accounting Dimensions

If you need analysis beyond cost centers — project, region or sales rep — add an accounting dimension. It appears as a field on financial documents and as a filter in reports.
