- Manufacturing
included in the Business and Enterprise plans
For anyone who turns raw materials into a product: factory, bakery, central kitchen, carpentry shop, packaging plant. Rowdx calculates the raw materials needed for each quantity, consumes them from the warehouse when you produce, and adds the finished product at its true cost (materials + operations), so each product's profit is right.
- Bill of materials
- Work order
- Material transfer
- Job cards (optional)
- Finished goods receipt
Before you start
- Items: raw materials and finished products are all stock items. See Stock.
- Warehouses: three are recommended: raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods. Set them as defaults in Manufacturing settings.
- Workstations and Operations (optional): if you want machine and labour costing. For example a "Oven" workstation at SAR 40/hour and a "Baking" operation.
Bill of materials (the recipe)
- Manufacturing
- Bills of materials
- Add
- Item: the finished product, and the quantity this BOM produces (e.g. 100 loaves).
- In Items: each raw material and its quantity for that output (25 kg flour, 0.5 kg yeast…).
- Operations (optional): tick With operations and add each operation, its workstation and time.
- Expected scrap: a percentage or quantity of materials usually lost.
- Save and submit, and tick Is default so it's used automatically.
The unit cost at the bottom is calculated from current material rates.
- BOM creator: build multi-level BOMs (a product with sub-assemblies that are themselves manufactured) in one tree.
- BOM update tool: replace one material with another in all BOMs at once, or refresh costs.
- BOM comparison: the difference between two versions of a recipe.
Work order
- Manufacturing
- Work orders
- Add, or from a sales order: **Create
- Work order**
- Item to manufacture; the default BOM is selected.
- Quantity to manufacture.
- Warehouses: source of materials, work in progress, and finished goods.
- Planned start date.
- Save and submit. The required materials and their stock show, with a warning if any is short.
Execution
- Start (or Transfer materials for manufacture): moves materials from their warehouse to WIP.
- If the order has operations, job cards are created per operation; the worker records start/end time and completed quantity.
- Finish (or Manufacture): enter the quantity actually produced. Consumed materials are deducted and the finished product enters its warehouse at cost.
Simple production
If you don't need to track steps (a bakery or kitchen producing daily), create a stock entry with purpose Manufacture directly: choose the BOM and quantity, and materials are consumed and the product added in one document.
Production and material planning

- Material planning
- Production plans
For many orders at once:
- Get sales orders or open material requests.
- Get items to manufacture and their quantities.
- Get raw materials: totals the materials needed for all orders, minus what's in stock.
- Create work orders and material requests for the shortfall in one go.
The Master production schedule and Sales forecast plan further ahead from expected sales.
Downtime
- Manufacturing
- Tools
- Downtime entries
Record every machine stop (breakdown, no materials, maintenance) with reason and duration. The Downtime analysis report shows the most frequent causes.
Quality in manufacturing
Turn on quality inspection on the item (on receipt or before delivery) so an inspection is required before submitting. Details in Quality.
